The book brings a fascinating glimpse into the rural life of forty years ago. The hard- ships, festivals, religious activities, birth, marriage and death are all covered in compassionate way that makes compulsive reading. We need to remember that most people in this country do not live anywhere near Bangkok and the majority must be thankful that they have never been there!
